About the organization

An established, volunteer-governed youth organization rooted in the Żurrieq community.

Udruga Mladih Peteranec exists to make civic life accessible to young people. We are a registered non-profit voluntary organization in the Republic of Malta, governed by an unpaid executive board and delivered by volunteers who live in the communities we serve.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advocate for youth empowerment, facilitate cultural and educational exchange, and provide accessible, non-profit community programs that nurture personal growth, civic responsibility, and social solidarity.

In practice this means keeping the door open: no fees, no selection procedures, and no expectation that a young person already knows how institutions work before they are welcome to learn.

Our Vision

Our vision is an inclusive, vibrant society where young people are equipped with the knowledge, empathy, and leadership skills necessary to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.

We work toward a Malta where a nineteen-year-old can convene a neighbourhood meeting, write a funding request, and represent their peers in front of a public body with confidence.

Core organizational values

Three commitments we are willing to be judged on.

01

Empowerment & Education

Believing in the limitless potential of educated and engaged youth.

We treat education as the most durable form of support we can offer. Instead of one-off charity, we invest in skills, confidence and mentorship that a young person carries with them for life.

02

Inclusivity & Diversity

Welcoming individuals from all backgrounds to participate in our civic initiatives.

Nationality, faith, language, income and ability are never conditions of participation. Our sessions are held in accessible public venues and facilitated bilingually wherever our volunteers make that possible.

03

Complete Non-Profit Transparency

Operating with absolute administrative and financial clarity under our official non-profit registration (ID: 10139364133).

Our accounts, activity records and board minutes are maintained for review by members, funders and the competent Maltese authorities. No member, officer or volunteer receives a share of income.

Why choose us / why support us

Reasons partners and funders work with us.

  • Officially Registered Non-Profit in Malta (Registration No: 10139364133).

Our legal identity is verifiable, our registered office is a real physical address in Iż-Żurrieq, and our correspondence runs through the official organizational email on our own domain.

  • Direct Grassroots Impact through authentic, youth-led community projects and educational workshops.

Programs are designed and delivered by the young people who take part in them, supported by volunteer mentors rather than paid campaign staff.

  • Inclusive Civic Focus that brings together local citizens and international residents for public welfare.

We deliberately mix long-standing local families with newly arrived residents, because integration happens through shared work, not through separate services.

  • Absolute Financial Transparency ensuring all contributions and grants directly support non-profit educational and volunteer programs.

Every euro received is allocated to venue costs, materials, accessibility support and programme delivery. Nothing is distributed as profit or private benefit.

Governance & leadership

How Udruga Mladih Peteranec is governed.

Udruga Mladih Peteranec is governed by a voluntary executive board elected by the general assembly of members. Board members — including the President, Secretary and Treasurer — serve without any salary, honorarium, dividend or other form of remuneration. Their mandate is fixed in duration and renewable only by a vote of the membership.

The organization operates strictly on a not-for-profit basis. No part of our income, surplus or assets may be distributed, directly or indirectly, to members, officers, volunteers or related parties. Any surplus remaining at the end of a financial period is carried forward and reinvested exclusively into educational, cultural and volunteer programming that serves the public benefit.

We comply fully with the local regulations applicable to voluntary organizations in Malta, including requirements relating to lawful non-profit purpose, proper administration, record-keeping, annual reporting of activities and accounts, safeguarding of minors and vulnerable participants, and lawful use of donated or granted funds.

Standing governance practices

  • • Written minutes for every board and general assembly meeting.
  • • Annual statement of activities and accounts presented to the membership.
  • • Conflict-of-interest declarations by all board members and programme leads.
  • • Safeguarding protocol for all activities involving participants under 18.
  • • Documented decision trail for every grant or donation received and spent.
