Non-profit governance & compliance

Our official status, public benefit purpose and operating principles.

This page is maintained as the authoritative public record of our legal identity, non-profit status and governance framework. It is intended for members, participants, donors, institutional partners and verification bodies reviewing our eligibility for non-profit programmes.

Non-Profit Status Declaration

Udruga Mladih Peteranec is an officially registered non-profit organization operating in the Republic of Malta under Registration Number: 10139364133. We operate strictly for public benefit, youth development, education, and non-commercial community empowerment.

Public Benefit & Operating Statement

All educational workshops, guidance sessions, and public seminars organized by Udruga Mladih Peteranec are strictly non-commercial, public-service-driven, and maintained through voluntary contributions, civic grants, and active community participation. No profits are distributed to members; all funds are reinvested into our mission.

Governing body and non-remuneration

The organization is governed by a voluntary executive board elected by the general assembly of its members. Board officers — President, Secretary, Treasurer and ordinary members — serve on an entirely unpaid basis. No officer, member or volunteer receives a salary, honorarium, dividend, commission, or any other direct or indirect share of the organization's income or assets. Reasonable, documented out-of-pocket expenses incurred in the delivery of programme activities may be reimbursed only against receipts and only with prior board approval.

Lawful non-profit purpose

Our objects are exclusively social, educational, cultural and civic. Specifically, the organization exists to advance youth education and leadership, to support intercultural understanding and the integration of residents, to organize voluntary community and environmental service, and to promote digital literacy and employability among disadvantaged young people. The organization does not carry on any trade or commercial enterprise for private gain, and does not pursue any political-party or sectarian objective.

Financial administration and transparency

  • Sources of funds: voluntary donations, civic and institutional grants, in-kind contributions of venues and materials, and membership participation.
  • Use of funds: venue hire, programme materials, accessibility and transport support for participants, safeguarding and first-aid provision, and modest administrative costs.
  • Prohibited use: distribution of surplus to members, private benefit to officers or related parties, and any commercial resale of donated goods for private gain.
  • Records: accounts, receipts, grant correspondence and activity reports are retained and made available to the membership and to the competent Maltese authorities on request.

Regulatory compliance

Udruga Mladih Peteranec complies fully with the national legal framework applicable to voluntary organizations in Malta, together with all applicable European Union obligations. This includes maintaining a lawful non-profit purpose and statute, keeping proper books of account, reporting annually on activities and finances to the membership, protecting personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and applying safeguarding measures for activities involving minors and vulnerable adults.

Safeguarding and duty of care

Activities that involve participants under the age of eighteen, or vulnerable adults, are conducted under a written safeguarding protocol. Guardian consent is obtained before participation, adult volunteers supervise all sessions, one-to-one unsupervised contact is not permitted, and any concern is escalated immediately to the designated board officer and, where required, to the competent authorities.

Non-discrimination

Participation in our programmes, and membership of the organization, is open without discrimination on grounds of nationality, ethnic origin, language, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or socio-economic status. Accessibility support is arranged on request wherever our volunteer capacity and venues permit.
