Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

Accessibility is a direct expression of our organizational value of inclusivity. We consider an activity or a page inaccessible to be an activity or page that is unfinished. We therefore treat accessibility as an ongoing obligation of the board and of every volunteer who contributes content to this site.

2. Standards we apply

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we take account of the European standard EN 301 549 on accessibility requirements for ICT products and services.

3. Measures taken on this website

• Semantic HTML structure with a single descriptive heading hierarchy on every page.
• Text and background colour combinations chosen to meet or exceed AA contrast ratios.
• Full keyboard operability, with a clearly visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
• Form fields with permanently associated visible labels and plain-language error messages.
• Meaningful alternative text for informative images; decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.
• Responsive, reflowable layouts that remain usable at 200% zoom and on small screens.
• No auto-playing media, no content that flashes, and no time-limited interactions.
• Plain-language copy, with legal and governance material written as clearly as the subject allows.

4. Accessibility of our programmes and venues

We select community venues with step-free access wherever available, arrange seating and room layouts that accommodate wheelchair users, allow personal assistants and support workers to attend at no charge, and provide printed materials in large print on request. Where a venue we have been offered is not fully accessible, we say so plainly in the invitation and offer an alternative means of participation.

5. Known limitations

Some documents contributed by external partners, and some photographs uploaded by community members, may not yet carry complete descriptive text. We review contributed material on a rolling basis and correct such gaps as they are identified. Third-party embedded content, such as external maps, remains subject to the accessibility of its provider.

6. Requesting assistance or an alternative format

If any part of this site or of our programme information is inaccessible to you, we will supply the content in an alternative format — including large print, plain-text email, or a spoken explanation by telephone — at no cost. 7. Reporting a barrier

When reporting an accessibility barrier, it helps us to know the page address, the difficulty you encountered, and the device or assistive technology you were using. We acknowledge every report within five working days and aim to resolve confirmed barriers within thirty days, or to explain the timeline where a fix depends on a third party.

8. Review and enforcement

This statement is reviewed at least annually by the executive board of Udruga Mladih Peteranec (Reg. No: 10139364133) and whenever significant changes are made to this website. If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may escalate the matter to the competent national authority responsible for accessibility and equality in Malta.
